The Steele family in front of the Sunflower Mural
|
Hello! I'm Becky. I'm an artist who strives to capture the moving, life-giving presence of God in nature and the creativity and intention of everyday objects and moments. I paint what I see around me intertwined with my own emotions and impressions, to affirm that human experience has significance. I adore bright colors and energetic, flowing lines. When I paint, I love to paint big. I stand up and use my whole arm and even my whole body to capture my energy on the canvas or wall. In a mural, on canvas, and with mixed media, I aim to bring beauty into the world, to transform a space into a work of art, to draw attention to lovely moments we might miss, and to invite viewers to join me in an emotional catharsis.
I am a child of God, a wife, and a mom of three vivacious children. I am trained as a teacher as well as an artist, and am also fluent in Spanish. I have worked as a public school teacher, homeschool teacher, and private art teacher. To me, art and art-making are meant to be shared, and I love to teach art and to incorporate creativity, intention and beauty into teaching and all that I do. After 12 years of homeschooling, I am excited that I am going back to focusing on art as my primary career! When I'm not painting or dreaming up my next work of art, I love to cook, bake, work out, do yoga, garden, swim, read, diffuse and use essential oils, and hang out with my family and our dog Indie! |
